Homework 4 - Test Revision
Complete your revision using the summary sheet started in lesson. Make sure to go over Middle East work and particularly, hot desert characteristics.

You could get someone to test you using the questions on the revision checklist.

Homework 3 - Why do people live near volcanoes?
Research and compose a ten-point summary as to why people live near volcanoes. Include real places in your research and relevant statistics. Collect a few photos and use the sites below to help;

Homework 2 - Mt St Helens Research
Research the eruption of Mt St Helens in 1980.  The maps & photos need to be an appropriate size for a newspaper. Collect at least 10 pieces of research including;
  • Location

  • Number of dead
  • Number of injured
  • Damage to the environment
  • Emergency response
  • Eye witness statements
  • Map of the local area
  • Before and after photographs

Homework 1 - Structure of the Earth
Complete the 8 comprehension questions based on the structure of the earth worksheet.

Homework 3 - Test Revision
Revise for your end of unit test on the Middle East.  Include the following in your revision;
  • Countries of the Middle East (including specific location)
  • Water areas of the Middle East (including river and sea locations)
  • Relief of the Middle East (including mountainous areas, deserts and plains)
  • Desert climate (including annual rainfall and temperature information)
  • Human use of the Middle East (including overcoming a lack of water)
  • Conflict in the Middle East
  • Trade between the UK and Middle East (including imports and exports)
  • Plant and animal adaptations to the harsh conditions

Homework 2 - Aswan Dam Research
Carry out some research into the Aswan Dam.
  • photos (before and after)
  • map of the dam and lake i.e. Lake Nasser
  • facts and figures on the dam to support assignment i.e. good and bad points
The Wikipedia article is a good place to start.

Homework 2 - Dubai Research

Carry out some research into the History of Dubai.  Create a ten-point timeline using your research. You can use the following websites to help.

Homework 1 - Middle East Facts
Download and complete the table of facts on Middle East countries.  Use the most recent data available.  The CIA world fact-book is a good source of information.

Homework 3 - Test Revision
Revise for your end of unit test on the Middle East.  Use your notes and BBC Bitesize Crime to help. Include the following in your revision;
  • Definitions of crime and crime hotspots
  • Target hardening and examples
  • Designing out crime and examples
  • Use of GIS to help measure crime (ie your project)
  • International crime - piracy and the heroin trail.

​Most of the group need to improve their project in two ways;
  1. Annotate your local area photo explaining the high rate of a particular crime or crimes. See my PDF for help and guidance.
  2. Record four pieces of advice from the police website to help combat this. Click on the links on the right for specific advice such as preventing bicycle theft.  Visit Redcar and Cleveland Local Authority website for advice.
